"Where nothing is overlooked but the sea", as they say at Portmarnock itself. The house was originally owned by the Jameson family, famous for their Irish whiskey. Their home has been beautifully converted to an international hotel with the famous Portmarnock Golf Links now on the grounds. The hotel is rated an AA 4 star and it contains 103 rooms. It has two top class restaurants and the Jameson bar.
The 103 bedrooms are cleverly designed to ensure that you are either looking over the sea or the beauty of the golf course. A choice of elegantly appointed accommodation is yours, ranging from the historic four-posters, to executive suites and de luxe rooms. Every modern convenience has been included so that you feel cosseted at all times.
Golf
The course was designed by Bernhard Langer, and the club professional is European Ryder Cup player, Darren Clarke. Inspirational use of natural dunes land features, and the creative use of elevated tees and greens, acutely angled dog-legs, and ninety-eight strategically placed bunkers even test the most accomplished of players. Each individual hole presents its own unique and exacting challenge, which, as the round progresses, provokes and increasing sense of anticipation to discover the delights of the next.
"There are very few locations in Europe which could have allowed me the opportunity and landscape to design such a classic championship links. I hope all those who play it discover its magic and its challenging beauty". Bernhard Langer
